Wrong for Hay // #LDF13

Nestled close to St James’s Park underground station was a Georgian townhouse where a new collection debuted of Sebastian Wrong with Danish design brand HAY.

Ten years after their launch in Cologne, HAY has grown to be a large global manufacturer producing affordable, yet well-designed products that hit the nerve of the current consumer market. With this new collaboration, HAY brings to the board a well-known name on the London circuit to create Wrong for Hay… a vast collection including furniture and lighting from the likes of Stefan Diez, Anderson & Voll, Daniel & Emma, Leon Ransmeier and even ceramics from Another Country’s designer Ian McIntyre.

I am a particular fan of the Stanley Stool (below) by Faudet Harrison made from bent steel tube and a cork seat, a material that is being seen a lot this year from flooring to tables and now stools. It is clearly reminiscent of the Stool 60 by Artek but this version is so distinctively different that it shows the inspiration rather than being a copy.

The Ori salt & pepper mills and Tela Glassware are perfect additions to the table top accessories that HAY already have as part of their catalogue, displayed like this are almost an installation rather than a seasoning object.

The Revolver Stool by Leon Ransmeier might have been originally launched by Established & Sons but never infiltrated the market as much as I am sure HAY will be able to with this. At £199 expected retail price, this stool, with a rotating top half, is an elegant and simple bar stool which could grace the bars en masse.

The Rope Trick Light by Stefan Diez, Sinker Light and Slope Chair by Sebastian Wrong are all great additions to the collection which are at home within the Georgian townhouse as they will be in a modern interior. I am expecting to see these products become very popular over the next few years.
