What To Wear to a Summer Wedding

(Still on vacation… ran out of pre-written posts hence the radio silence this week on the blog. Oops.)

It’s that time of year… you know the one. It’s the moment when nearly every weekend seems to have a wedding marked on the calendar. At least that happens when you hit your late 20′s – or so it seems. But what to wear to these summer weddings seems to get trickier and trickier every year. There are all these rules and guidelines and tradition to take into account. And let’s not forget you need to take location and the wedding colors into account as well. The search for the perfect dress can be exhausting.

When my cousin got married last summer I easily tried on 50 dresses, trying to figure out what would be the correct attire for an evening wedding in Savannah, GA. I narrowed it down to two and then let my family pick because I couldn’t decide between them. (My dad literally laughed when I tried on the two dresses because he said one was very me and the other looked like I was trying to be someone else.)

I won’t rehash all the tips here but a couple to keep in mind: What time of day is the wedding taking place? Where is the wedding and reception being held? AND What will the wedding party be wearing? From there you can start shopping for your dress and then creating an outfit complete with shoes, jewelry and the perfect handbag.
