Dried Apple Slices

Bad apple slices on the left, good apple slices on the right.
The main thing I've been making with this second round of apples is dehydrated apple slices. I have an old not the best dehydrator I bought for a few bucks at a garage sale. Fruits always take a little longer to dry out than what I've read they should but it works. At first I just sliced the apples up and threw them straight onto the dehydrator. This didn't work so well. Besides browning and being unattractive they were too chewy and the skins defiantly needed to be removed. I needed to make some changes. I realized I owned an apple corer that I'd never used before. I soaked my cored and sliced apples in a bath that was 3 parts water and 1 part lemon juice for about 30 minutes. After draining the lemony water I laid them on the dehydrator for about 8-10 hours. They are turing out great totally chewable even with the skin left on.
