A Tearful Goodbye and Rock crafts!

Sorry i didn’t blog on Monday – I was driving back from my friend Cheri’s Celebration of Life this weekend. It was a beautiful tribute to my friend and her amazing life. She touched many hearts as was evident by the packed hall where the event happened. It’s been a very emotional time. I cannot seem to draw anything that does not have to do with what I am going through in life. It’s like all of my drawings and journal pages are autobiographical.

Here’s the cartoon i did for my friend’s goodbye. “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together….keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever. – Winnie the Pooh”

When i got home from the several hour drive I went to the beach to find twenty rocks for a craft i was doing the next morning for my grandson’s playschool – a Father’s Day craft. I basecoated all of the rocks and wrote “Dad Rocks” on them. I even made a demo rock to show the kids first.

Painted Rocks Craft

It’s pretty hilarious when you are used to teaching adults and then you translate that idea to toddlers. Teaching toddlers is like herding cats – you try and tell them what they are going to do and before you are finished the instructions they go right ahead and do their own thing. I ended up going with it as that’s just the way little kids roll.

Little baby Toby came along too and was thrilled to be a part of the mornings event. Of course he loves crafting so this was up his alley. I think Sam liked having his meme there. The green tape was placed over the words so they kids would not paint on top of them. Thankfully I had one teacher and two Mom’s helping or kid wrangling (my daughter-in-law was one) otherwise handling 15 toddlers on my own would have been impossible! All in all it was a fun morning.

See you Friday!

Love, Violette xo
