Art Journaling Quotations

Yesterday I was teaching Teachers how to do art journaling at a Wellness Fair. I only had 45 minutes to teach them something – but after giving instructions they only had 1/2 an hour . I said it’s like doing art journaling on steroids. In such a case you can’t make the assumption that everyone knows how to draw nor that they would be comfortable if you told them to draw.

So I went on Facebook and asked my friends what they thought i could teach in that short amount of time. I received lots of fabulous ideas! What an amazing and resourceful group of people! I decided to ask the teachers to illustrate a quote – that was one of the great suggestions i received.

I gave the teachers a black and white version of my sample so they could use it as a reference as well as a page of different font types that i hand drew and created.

This is the coloured quote (still working on it) that i used as a sample. The teachers who attended my short workshop had fun! They said it was destressing and kind of Zen to work like this. Some of them will take this idea back to their students next year. How can you tell i love this Rumi quote? This is the third time I’ve illustrated it.

I used micron pens, copic markers, coloured pencils to illustrate this quotation.

Toddler Father’s day craft

On Wednesday I babysat my grandson Cillian and decided to do a Father’s Day craft with him like i did with my other two grandson’s Sam and Toby and Sam’s playschool class. Cillian hasn’t taken part in too much crafting before but he sure did love this craft!

I think the part he loved the most was glittering – using the glitter shakers on the rock and pinecone he painted. After the craft was over he wanted to paint the paper and glitter that too. Eventually i had to take the glitter away from him. We had glitter coming out of the wazoo after that !

Birthday Bash Giveaway on Monday!

Just to let you know it’s my 60th birthday on Sunday! Yay! I am definitely behind on my 60 in 60 cartoons but plan on working on them this weekend. I’ll give myself a few extra days to get the cartoons finished. On Monday I’ll be having a big Birthday giveaway to thank you so much for sticking around with me so long! I appreciate all of you so much!

Have a great weekend!

Love, Violette xo
