For most people, a sign of a good vacation includes feeling well-rested upon your return home.

I overwhelmingly disagree.

I’d say being exhausted is a better sign. It means you explored, discovered and stayed up way past your bedtime. Which is exactly what I did in NYC. Here’s a small snippet of my five days in one of the finest cities on earth.

There was my all-time favorite ramen (Momofuku Noodle Bar, to be exact)…

…and a few new favorites (Roebling Tea Room, Pig & Khao, Sushi Yasuda).

There were treats (Momofuku Milk Bar, Doughnut Plant, Big Gay Ice Cream)…

…and cocktails (bourbon and scotch at Pouring Ribbons; Bloody Verde at Colicchio & Sons).

There were beers (at Brooklyn Brewery and Rattle N Hum)…

…and scenery. Oh, the beautiful scenery (Central Park, Washington Square Park, Grand Central).

I always have a wonderful time in New York, and this trip was no exception. Sure, I may be suffering from what I’ve deemed the “NYC hangover” (read, sleep deprivation), but I’m feeling mentally rejuvenated and creatively recharged.

Until next time, NYC. Much love from Chicago.

XOXO.
