cozy weekends & a new camera

How are you staying warm? For us, cozy weekends are the best. (Lately I’m just so thankful for heat!) Finding joy in the little details of daily life are what get me through winter. Being snuggled on the couch with a blanket, book, and coffee is definitely my happy place this time of year. My sister gave me the New York Times book 36 Hours for my birthday, and I’ve been having fun dreaming of travels to fun places around the U.S.

My big news that I mentioned on social media is I got a new camera! My good friends at Paper Antler were upgrading their gear and since I’ve been looking and hoping for a new (to me) camera, I decided it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I’ve used my trusty Nikon D60 for the course of this blog so far; it has served me well and I’ve learned so much. But I’ve been saving up in eager anticipation of making the switch to a full-frame camera. Let’s just say so far it is rocking my world. I had no idea what I was missing! My other major reading material lately is my camera manual – I couldn’t be more excited. I started playing with it by taking a few shots of our cozy weekend around the house…

Some of my favorite plants…

Chemex coffee. Because we’ve become total coffee snobs and it doesn’t get much better than a pour-over brew.

I gave Nick this jade plant while we were dating, and I love that it’s grown into a deep-rooted tree during the course of our relationship. (Insert sappy face here.)

Did I mention we love breakfast? It’s probably quite obvious but they’re my favorite on the weekends. We made delicious spinach and feta omelettes.

We got a Dutch oven for Christmas and it really is the gift that keeps on giving. Nick has been using it to bake bread! This is his third loaf and each one keeps getting better and better. He has already perfected the crispy crust and soft center. I need to start giving some away so that we don’t keep eating all of this bread! :)

Doesn’t it look amazing? I’m such a proud wife. I’m hoping he teaches me and we can put some of our favorite recipes here on the blog.

Hope you’re having a great week! I can’t wait to share more photos taken with my new camera…I’m falling in love with photography all over again!

xoxo
