The Road to Hana

Though it's a doozy of a drive, doing the Road to Hana for my second time was totally worth it. It's honestly such a special part of the island and after the hours-long trek, getting to Hana is an incredible (and relieving) experience. Fruit stands, amazing Thai food, a dip at the black sand beach and seeing an area truly steeped in history and culture - definitely recommend it if you're ever headed to Maui! More snaps from the day after the jump!

As much as I loved doing the trip again, it was the perfect sunset at Paia beach that really made the whole day for me. Getting to just watch the sun go down with a fresh coconut (thanks to the hippie/possibly homeless guy who cracked them open for us, even demonstrating how to do it with his head) with two of my best pals and surfers silhouetted against the vibrant sky was one of those moments that just etches itself into your mind forever. Even though I go to Maui often, there's a spellbinding moment like this every trip that always reminds me of how incredibly special the island is.
I can't wait to share more snaps over the next little while, particularly because my cold is getting worse and I need to be reminded of the fact that I just came off of a great vacation! I don't get truly bad colds too often but this one's been a bit of a doozy. Send some healing vibes my way :)
