Rosa Loves… New strategies to manage work projects and to order tapas at dinner.

And we’re back.

My vacation was awesome. The main goal was to relax. I truly enjoy my work, but the last couple of months have felt a bit unfocused. We have several projects going on and even though I love to multi-task, I was a little overwhelmed. The time away from the lab allowed me to rethink my strategy at work. As soon as I came back to the office on Monday, I outlined my new plan to prioritize projects and running experiments in the lab. So far so good. Interestingly, I am also rethinking my strategy when ordering tapas at dinner. I usually go for something that I am craving or that catches my eye while browsing the menu. However, the process can sometimes take a little time. When my husband and I went to dinner at MAS in Charlottesville during our vacation, he did some research online and figured out ahead of time the best dishes based on people’s recommendations. Armed with this knowledge, we were able to pick some really tasty new food to enjoy along with some of our favorites. I have to say that I kind of like his strategy.

In case you were wondering what we ate at MAS, here’s the list from top to bottom:

  • baby arugula salad with tomatoes, sherry vinegar, olive oil, and Manchego cheese
  • sliced, aged raw-milk Manchego and local apples on a slice of hearth-baked bread
  • duck confit and goat cheese empanada with crema
  • beef brisket pastrami with Manchego cheese
  • marinated hanging tenderloin with smoked tomato alioli
  • olive oil chocolate mousse
