Lost in the Haze

2013: A Year in Review

Bam! And just like that, another year is over and done with. I’ve been completely shocked as to how fast 2013 has gone, though I have enjoyed it every step of the way! I always love a good ol’ recap post, and hopefully you enjoy this one too!

All the way back in February I shared one of my favourite outfits I’ve worn this year – this anchor dress by Pepa Loves. I had such a lot of fun shooting this post – dressed like a sailor, hangin’ out with ducks… What more do I need! So all up, I still love this post and it remains a favourite.. Even though it was a whopping ten months ago!

The biggest change for me this year was moving cities! After eight years of living in Christchurch, Barnaby and I decided to take the plunge and begin a new life in Wellington. There were heaps of reasons that lead to this change (high rent prices and earthquakes to name a few!) and I honestly couldn’t be happier with our decision. I get to see the ocean every single day, hot chocolates (and good ones too!) are on every corner, and best of all… I get to experience a city again! Oh Wellington, I really do love you so much!

I was so excited that the Christchurch Gondola reopened just before we left (it was shut for a couple of years for quake repairs). Both Barnaby and I remember riding it as children, so it was a real treat (and the perfect goodbye to Christchurch!) to take our first ever ride together. And of course the views were spectacular. New Zealand, you definitely didn’t disappoint!

Within a month of us landing in Wellington, we are asked to attend Wellington Fashion Week! It was actually my first ever fashion show! It was surreal, to say the least, but I had such a wonderful time, and LOVED being all dressed up. I even got to shoot a wee bit of street style on behalf of Boohoo!

This year I also took the plunge and dyed my hair dark! I have oodles of hair, and to redye it blonde costs me over $250! After deciding it was time for a change (and I really wanted the extra cash to save up for a holiday!) I became a brunette. I love it, and boy is it cheap to maintain. Yep, I’m happy, all right!

Lost in the Haze also ended up getting a bunch of magazine features this year! The most exciting for me was getting an eight (yes, eight!) page article and cover (!!) of Artful Blogging Magazine. I had no idea that my ol’ mug would be on the cover. I literally squealed as I unwrapped it!

A really exciting part of 2013 was when I befriended a wild seal cub living on the waterfront! Well, I’d hardly call us friends, though I did say a big ‘hello!’ whenever I walked past him. He lived on the waterfront for about two months, and I still miss him to bits! Please come back soon, baby seal!

This year I also made a whole bunch of posts I am really proud of! Some of my favourites of 2013 are:

- Cat Face

- A Bow for Each Day

- The Truck Art Project

- How to Style Cat Clothing

- Coloured Lips, Collars, & Contact-Free

- How to do 1960s Makeup

I am so excited for 2014! I have so many plans, including lots of travel, decorating my home, and enjoying lots of sweet sweet time with my guy, Barnaby. I’m so thankful for all of my wonderful readers and can’t wait to keep sharing posts with you in the next year. Here’s to a fantastic 2014! xo.
