In 2007, about four years later my husband decided to go active again. This time he re-classed (changed his job) from logistics to admin (42A/S1) and had to attend school for 3 months for the proper training. After he completed his training we were stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii (in Honolulu). It was there when my husband’s career started to progress. After being in Hawaii for nearly a year he was promoted to an E-5/SGT (Sergeant) and later that same year he deployed yet again to Iraq. During his deployment to Iraq he was promoted to an E-6/SSG (Staff Sergeant). He was moving right along fairly quickly. We finished our tour in Hawaii in 2010 and were stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas (San Antonio). It was here when his career really took off, but this time to a different level. In 2011 he submitted his packet for The Green to Gold Army Program to become a Commissioned Officer. After going through and submitting his packet, he was successfully accepted into the program which meant that he would need to complete 2 years as a full-time college student to obtain his masters degree and then he would be Commissioned after successfully finishing grad school.
On May 9th, 2014 my husband was Commissioned as an Officer of the United States Army and I couldn’t be any more proud of him. I know the challenges that he went through on this journey and this was huge for him and our family and something he truly deserved. I’m so proud of my hero, my husband for what he has become. This is a very short version of our story, but well worth it. He has faced plenty of challenges and adversity along the way, but never gave up. He is an exceptional man and will go above and beyond to provide for his family. He made plenty of sacrifices along the way and not to mention he was also turned down before in the process. He never gave up and continued to fight and move pass those obstacles to only get what he so deserved in the end. I would like to say a Big Thank You to my love for your commitment and dedication for your family as well as your country. So with that all being said I salute, ♥My Hero, My Husband♥
