21 DAYS OF YOGA: Simple Style

Most of my life, I was in the game. The game is fiercely competitive, with a victor who is never fully satisfied. The game drills into your soul the importance of being thin and pretty. The ill fitted importance of misplaced body imaged wrapped it's death grip around my heart, and I followed its lead.
By nature, I am a very competitive person. So competitive, I even compete with myself. I can do better. Run harder, train harder, eat less, be more. Weight and outward appearance became my competitor; something I could manipulate and work hard to master.
For the longest time, I played this game. Exercise and eating was simply to be thin. This may sound extreme to you, but it really is the norm, isn't it? We women kill ourselves in the gym, desecrate our beauty in front of the mirror, and long to be less and more of what we idealize.
Practicing Holy Yoga, I felt a shift deep down in my soul. Through a long journey, I am still walking, I have begun to remove my identity and worth from what the scale says, to who He says I am. He says that I am enough.
Skinny used to be the trophy, and now it is sidelined by something far greater. Strength has been etched deep inside my soul by The One who sings songs of freedom over me. His strength is all I need and is what strengthens me.
Because He who is in me, is greater and is a consuming fire. One of my favorite authors frequently quotes C.S. Lewis:
Aslan is on the move.
Indeed, He is on the move, coming for our freedom from the lies we have bought into about our bodies.
Elle est forte. She is strong. He clothes me with dignity and strength.

This tank from She Is Clothing has become one of my favorites. I wear it during my yoga practices, and with my favorite jeans or a flowy skirt. It has become a staple in my closet.
