Have You Tried Seahorse?

We recently had a gigantic celebration for my husband. Here in Colorado we have 54 "Fourteener's." That is 54 mountain peaks above 14,000 feet. Crazy people all over the state are climbing these mountains every day. Personally, I climbed one, Mount Bierstadt. It was great, it was kinda hard, and I have no desire to climb another one.

My husband however, is of a different sort. After climbing about 11 peaks he decided he would be climbing all of them. He started about 14years ago and this past August he summited the last peak, Mount Missouri and he had over 50 family and friends celebrating with him.

Only 9 made it to the top by his side mostly because this is what the weather was like that day.

The rest of us were spread out over 10 campsites near the trail head waiting for them when they returned. The whole weekend was just a huge celebration with family and friends from all over the country. I wanted a way to gather all of the fun and sweet pictures everyone was taking all weekend. I decided to try out the Seahorse app on my iPhone (it's also available on Google Play for android).

Our lives are made up of thousands of scenes. This way everyone who shared your excperience can contribute to the scene, share and comment on each photo, and then the scene belongs to everyone! I signed up through Facebook and I could easily invite all of our family and friends to this collection of scenes commemorating this big event! But it's just as easy to sign up through Google or your e-mail.

For this big event, I started a new scene called Ian's "Fourteener" Weekend and invited everyone who was there to the scene. I added all of my photos and captions for each photo to remember exactly what was going on throughtout our awesome weekend! All of my invitees can also comment on each picture and it's so fun to get everyone's different perspectives on each of our photos. But I love that the scenes are private and only those I invited can view, add, and comment.

I found this 2 minute intro video so helpful before I got started. But when you open the app for the first time a little tutorial will walk you through the basics too.

But really, it was very easy to get started!

1. After you sign up tap the camera icon in the top right corner

2. Tap "new scene" to create a scene (a scene is like a photo album)

3. Enter the name of your scene in the "title" field

4. Invite your friends by tapping "add friends" (you can invite through Facebook, Google, or e-mail). Your friends will receive a notification to join the scene and to sign up with Seahorse if they haven't already.

5. Tap "create."

6. Tap the camera icon on the bottom right to add your photos.

After your photos are in the scene you can go back to comment on, save, and "heart" your favorite photos. Your invited friends can also jump right in to add their own photos to the scene and comment on everything as well. Remember, you all co-own the photos now and I am excited about that because this photo my sister-in-law, Courtney, added with Ian and my neice is adorable.

Since Seahorse saves your photos at their original resolution I will even be able to make a print to frame!

Courtney was also brave enough to venture partway up the trail in the wind and rain to catch the victorious hikers on the way down and it's such a special moment! It was a huge accomplishment for Ian and she got teary when she first heard and then saw the happy bunch!

Seahorse is offering an extra 5GB of storage by entering the promo code:CLEVERHORSE. This promo code is good until October 31, 2014, and each user can only use it once. Believe me, you are going to want the extra storage because this is such a fun way to stay connected with friends and family across the world!

To redeem:

1. Tap the icon on the top left corner to access your account settings

2. Tap "redeem

3. Tap "Write code" and enter cleverhorse

Now that I have a few scenes and lots of photos from different friends and family for other big events I like to touch "magic" and shake my phone to get random images across scenes and be reminded of any forgotten moments. But if I am looking for a specific image I can sort by date, scene, location, and friends to find something quickly.

I truly am loving Seahorse and my second favorite scene I've created is Back to School 2014. We captured pictures from the bed headed picky breakfast eaters, to my son walking into a stop sign, and my daughter hiding in embarrassment as we snapped away. Seahorse has been a simple, fun, and brilliant way to share these importanat moments with family and friends!
