Review + Swatches: GOSH Giant Blush - Shy
With the rise in popularity of Blush Sticks - especially the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Balms, you may be wondering where you can get one on the highstreet? Am I right?! Well today I have the perfect one from the highstreet - and unlike the other highstreet options this is a very wearable shade! If you want something brighter and bolder I highly recommend checking out No7 or Soap & Glory!
// var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-37824282-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview')); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //
As always I've included a summary at the end :)
The BasicsThis has the same packaging as pretty much every jumbo lip/eye/cheek crayon out there. It's black, twists up and requires
no sharpening - yay no mess! The GOSH ones come with
5.5g of creamy goodness inside. I was a little disappointed to see that there are only
3 shades available, however I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more in future - or even some limited edition ones! These are available from Superdrug for
£6.99 each.
The FormulaThe texture of this is not what I expected! Other stick blushes I've tried have been quite thick and strong in colour. This GOSH one is creamier and even
a tad greasy. The only real way I can explain the difference in formula is that this is more like a tinted lipbalm with the others I've tried being more like lipsticks (although the difference isn't quite as dramatic!). As the formula is greasy I do find that it
can blend rather sheer, so for that reason I do find myself having to put a few layers on! Definitely one to set with powder! But once set I do find that it lasts a good
8 hours.
Colour & PigmentationAfter telling you the downsides to the formula, you may have guessed that this is rather
sheer in colour - infact it doesn't even really show up too well in the pictures. Saying that, this is
the perfect barely there blush for 'no make-up' days or for when you're wearing something dramatic on your eyes and lips. The colour is a
nude warm toned pink that lifts the complexion. I do find that it leaves a slightly shiny finish (even with setting powder), so I wouldn't recommend using a highlighter with this (unless you like the super radiant look!), nor would I recommend this if you're super conscious of pores on your cheeks. But it's perfect for a natural glow and colour to the cheeks.
The Good - Natural Colour, lasts 8 hours on the skin, good drugstore alternative to the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Tints.
The Not so Good - does apply and blend quite sheer (but sometimes this is what I want!), only 3 shades available, texture is greasier than others I've tried.
Price & Availability - £6.99, Superdrug.
