Review + Swatches: ELF Mineral Blush - Plum

Are you ready to switch up your make-up for Autumn? I'm definitely starting to feel Autumns arrival now, the evenings are getting darker and the days are getting colder. There's no written rule that says YOU MUST wear darker and redder shades in Autumn, infact I often will wear whatever whenever. But snuggling up in scarves and woolly hats (yes I'm already doing this, I was wearing my winter coat in August!) just brings out the red lip feeling in me! Today it's not about red lips, it's about a brilliant 'flushed cheeks' blusher to pair with your red lip!
// var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-37824282-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview')); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //
As always I've included a summary at the end :)

The Basics
For me ELF have taken a backseat recently, they have got rather stale - I can't even remember the last time they launches something new (in the UK!). But recently I've been trying to rediscover some old favourites to try and remember why I fell for the branch. I'd never shared this mineral blush before, but wanted to share it now! Each one comes in a small plastic tub, complete with sifter (to stop it making too much mess!) and 3.4g of product. Ingredients wise they are free of parabens, preservatives and chemical dyes, a full ingredient list is available on the ELF site. There are 7 shades available, each one priced at £5.95.

What did I Think?
This blush is rather pigmented, infact so intensely pigmented that even with a stipple brush you're going to need to be careful and use a light hand. This is helped along by the colour being deeper than the average blush. Talking of the colour this is just what it says on the tin, a medium mauvey plum colour. It looks matte at a glance however if you look at it up close it has the subtlest shimmer to it. Just enough to make you look alive, but nowhere near the glittery Twilight effect! As the colour is strong you may want to use the old tip of buffing the excess foundation from your brush over your freshly blushed cheeks to even the colour and make it less intense! On me this lasts a good 6 hours.

The Good - Pigmented, 100% Mineral based, 7 shades available, perfect accompaniment to red lips.
The Not so Good - Can be hard to apply evenly, quite expensive for ELF!
Price & Availability - £5.95, ELF's Website.
