Brabantia’s Perfume Your Bin Review

Now many of you may thinks me a little strange, but when Brabantia asked if I would like to review the new 'Perfume Your Bin' range, I was a bit excited.
The reason being, I reviewed a Retro Union Jack Brabantia here bin back in 2012. Before this I believed a bin was a bin, was a bin. Some looked pretty, serve a purpose, pain in the butt to empty, but a necessary household receptacle.
Then I received a Brabantia. Over two and a half years it has been a sometime talking piece. Friends have often commented on how cool it looks. Its as good as new two and a half years on, easy opening, not too bad to empty, however being a large bin, with large bags it has still needed emptying as rubbish does smell, more often in summer, as obviously they get a bit whiffy!
Now Brabantia have a new smart solution to hide unpleasant smells in kitchen and bathroom bins. I was sent the latest Mineral FlatBack Bin to trial the new bin perfume system. Bin deodorising powders do not really work so I was looking forward to trialling this.
Firstly with the previous bin, I could see no real room for improvement, but Brabantia could.

After I drooled over the bang up to date Mint colour, I noticed the flat back, enabling space saving, before it arrived I imagined it would hold less, but the space is exactly the same.

The bin has a soft handle on the back, great to be able to carry it or move it easily. The bin liner has a handle each side, this is such a joy, as its easy to remove the bin easily and great for my back if Chris or Conor are not about to do it. The liners fit perfectly, neatly tucking in to the case and no grotty overhang of unsightly plastic. The bin liners for those who already use, just never tear, so you can fill the bin to the maximum.
The silent close is a a boon for us having an open plan downstairs, no clanging bin lid. The lid stops short of any wall clanging too. Pedal to open when hands are full, but you can still manually open it into position for emptying.
All this and its fingerprint resistant! Oh and a 'No Nonsense' 10 year guarantee.

On to the ‘Perfume Your Bin’ it is a clever holder that the discs easily fit into. The holder is attached to the lid of the bin and needs to be clean, dry and a good 24 hours to ensure a good contact, I found this easy to do. It fits to any of the bins and costs £4.25 for the starter set, so you do not need to upgrade your bin.

These have a clever membrane technology delivering four to six weeks of freshness in two scents Flower and Pine. These both are light fragrances.

The refill capsules are quick and easy to fit, as you can see from my pictures, I just popped the disc in and closed the rim. Now using it, the nice thing is not an overpowering fragrance for the room, but the bin is fresher and it certainly masks odours. I will definitely use £3.45 and lasting up to six weeks makes them a little over 60p a time. Yes I definitely have bin love. Thank you Brabantia, you clever people!

I received the bin and perfume starter packs in order to carry out the review.
