Lend a {Healthy} Hand #67: Second Chances

(Have you entered my NuttZo giveaway yet!? One more day to enter!!!)

Happy Friday everyone! I just wanted to give you all a quick thank you regarding my two posts about fitness and movement this week! I think they really convey how much I am learning from my exercise break and I can’t wait to continue to grow and progress as this journey continues. A lot of you have reached out to me and have expressed that you’re going through similar struggles. I know it can be hard to take the first step and commit to a break, but you body and mind will thank you for it. I promise. Exercise is a good thing, but if you aren’t healthy to begin with in your mind and body, then it only does harm to you.

Switching subjects to the focus of today! The weekly Lend a {Healthy} Hand project round up of course! I am excited to announce that there will be some really cool features over the next few weeks on some companies that are really going out o their way to make a difference through their business models. Can’t wait to share!

Today, however, before I get into all your #healthyhelp I just wanted to mention a story that was in the news recently that really exemplifies the spirit of the Lend a {Healthy} Hand project and also demonstrates how everyone deserves a second chance to prove themselves in life.

You may have heard of Bryant Collins. The man who saved a baby from the side of a highway after he happened to catch sight of her while he was driving by. If that was not remarkable enough, Bryant stayed with the baby and comforted her for more than 2 hours while the police investigated and found her parents.

This man is clearly a good Samaritan and was certainly in the right place at the right time. What makes the story even more incredible though, is that Bryant is an ex-convict who was in jail for more than 10 years. Sometimes people who have committed crimes or done something bad in their past are written off by society and permanently labeled as less than. But it’s important not to judge people and to give people the benefit of the doubt for being able to change themselves. In this case, the US prison system was successful in being able to rehabilitate someone. It’s because of the second chance that Bryant was given in life that the little baby girl was also able to receive a second chance to live out the rest of her life.

Stories like this bring me so much joy. Amongst all the negativity, natural disasters, and violence that is reported daily, it’s so uplifting to be made aware of individuals that are truly making a difference in the world through their actions.

Speaking of which….all of you are doing just that! Time for some #healthyhelp….
