Lend a {Healthy} Hand #68: Mystery Money Buffalo

Happy Friday everyone! Can you believe that for next week’s round up it will already be the 4th of July!? Where is this summer going?! It’s moving far too quickly for my liking!

Before I head off to work for the day I wanted to make sure I got this week’s #healthyhelp posted as well as share cool local phenomenon that’s been happening since the start of June. It screams LEND A {HEALTHY} HAND to me! So I thought it would be nice to fill you in on it!

You may remember a few weeks back hearing about a mystery good Samaritan leaving envelopes filled with money around San Francisco. The person behind it would leave clues on Twitter as a sort of scavenger hunt and then people would head out for some fun and good fortune! Well it wasn’t too long before giving people like this anonymous donor started popping up all over the country (and the world!). A group even started up here in Buffalo….Mystery Money Buffalo!

Countless news articles have been written about these mystery good guys and since the beginning of June they’ve been doing ‘money drops’ each week all over WNY to brighten people’s days and bring out some of that child-like treasure hunting spirit in all of us!

Two clues are given for each money drop and the prizes have been anywhere from 150-300 dollars with tickets to local activities, gift cards, and more!

All I can say about this is…WOW. I would love to meet and interview the generous people behind Mystery Money Buffalo. I think it’s so great that they’re going out of their way to bring a little joy to the people of WNY. In reality, it really isn’t about the money. It’s the fact that someone would put in the time and effort to orchestrate such elaborate activities and offer up their own resources to the community.

Also, the fact that they are remaining anonymous shows that they are in this for the sake of doing good. Not for any special recognition or accolades. And that’s exactly what #healthyhelp should be….good for the sake of good! Whoever you are Mystery Money Buffalo, I salute you!
