The Princess Project | Dress Giveaway in San Francisco

I have always had a passion for helping young women build self-confidence and empowerment. It’s a life goal of mine to get involve with a cause I truly believe in, and this cause always comes back to helping young teens discover their individual beauty and strength.

When I discovered The Princess Project - a non-profit that promotes self-confidence and individual beauty by providing free prom dresses and accessories to less-privileged high school girls, I knew this was something I wanted to align myself with. I started following their work and when they asked me to help spread the word about their upcoming “Dress Giveaway”, I knew it was just the right thing to do! If you know any girl(s) out there who can benefit from The Princess Project, or if you are interested in volunteering, don’t be shy! Here are the details:

The March Giveaway: Between March 8th – 22nd The Princess Project will be hosting Dress Giveaway days for teens in San Francisco on 2099 Market Street; find more information here.

Volunteer Spot: They’re always searching for more volunteers to help teens shop and get styled for one of their most memorable days of their lives. Be sure to find your spot here to help!

While we’re on the topic of prom dresses, I remember I had a hard time finding a prom dress too. I had a small budget; it was just the money I earned from my $4.25/hour selling shoes part-time, haha! My parents were making ends meet so spending money on a prom dress was far from their priority. Finding a prom dress all came down to myself and what I could afford. It was kind of stressful, especially when self-image and fitting in with your friends were like the center of the universe! And I kind of envied those friends whose parents were able to get them what they wanted, yet I have to search sales racks after sales racks to see if there’s even that one dress out there that does not make me look fat.

While this may have been almost 20 years ago, I don’t think I’m alone in this - still. Finding a prom dress may sound like a normal thing for teens, but for those who could not afford it, their confidence and self-worth can totally be crushed. Hence why the mission of The Princess Project resonates with me so much and I hope you will give them your support too. Whether you had it easy or not with your prom dress, I think this is such a good cause in helping our young teens today! Again, please share The Princess Project with your friends and to anyone who may be interested.

Happy Thursday! xo Jeanne
