12 Style Rules to Break This Year According To…Me (Duh)!
There’s so many style rules out there, and we’re not even sure how they got into place. Who made up some of these rules, Ann Landers? Some are so stuffy, it’s a wonder why we even bothered. Here are some misconceptions about style.
1. No white after Labor Day

If no one was supposed to wear white after Labor Day, then where did the term winter white come from, huh?
2. You’re not allowed to mix and match patterns.

Unexpected combos can be cute and fun. Who cares if it doesn’t match?
3. Nail polish has to match toes
I mean, are you really going to change your nail color with every single outfit? No! So live a little and paint what you want on your fingers and toes.
4. Gold and silver never go together
It’s an awesome combo that you can put together, especially when layering. I’m personally not the biggest fan of silver-gold all-in-one jewelry, but if a watch is stacked upon bracelets upon bracelets, my girl, it’s magic.
5. NO mixing shades
If pink comes from the red family, then wouldn’t it make sense for them to be paired together?
6. Short girls maxi dresses = no bueno
Here’s the thing: short girls (like myself, heyyy) can do one of two things — short short, or super long. There’s no in between. Maxi dresses are a definite do.
7. Shorts are only for summer

Put some tights underneath shorts and you have a fall-winter outfit. Shorts can be worn anytime of the year if you’re brave.
8. Tall chicks should never wear heels
This doesn’t even make sense. If tall women weren’t supposed to wear heels, then models would walk around barefoot or in flats all the time.
9. Socks and sandals are forever a don’t.
This is so ugly it’s kind of cute. Sometimes your feet need an extra layer of warmth
10. Never touch horizontal stripes.
They supposedly make you look wide, but if you’re lacking in the hip area, why not try a skirt?
11. Never wear see through clothing outside of the house

Sheer clothing is so cute when it’s done right. You don’t want all of your goods to be on display (hello, Rihanna). You still want to leave something to the imagination. And nothing is wrong with your bra showing a little bit.
12. Expensive always = better
Thrifting is fun. You can find items that used to be expensive for the cheap if you know where to look. Matter of fact, you don’t even need to buy name brand sometimes.
