10 Fashionable Workout Pieces That Will Motivate You (& Me) To Join The Gym

Gone are the days when we reserved our old, worn, stained, and just down right ugly tees and sweat pants for working out. Activewear and gear for women has totally evolved into fashion forward pieces that not on look fab but are still functional. I personally find that a dope workout fit is motivational and helps you feel confident especially if you work out in a public place like a gym or fitness studio. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you train hard.

1. Victorias Secret Sports Bra.

A good bra is an essential part of every woman’s wardrobe, and a sports bra holds as much weight (literally) in the active woman’s wardrobe. Victoria’s Secret has a great selection of sports bras, and the VS Sport Incredible is one of their maximum support sports bras. It’s perfect for running, boxing, cardio and high-impact workouts. It comes in a ton of colors and prints, and goes up to size 38DDD/40DD.

Champion Spot Comfort Full-Support Sports Bra.

Another great sports bra, this one has adjustable gel-cushioned straps, and soft fabric that wicks away sweat and dries fast to prevent chafing. It’s engineered (I just love it when a bra is engineered, don’t you) to keep the girls secure during intense workouts like running, aerobics, and other sports. It is wire-free, comes in several colors and goes up to size 42DDD.

Hanes Athletic No-Show Socks.

Not only can socks add some color to your activewear, but they can also be functional. These socks in particular I really love because they are very breathable and aren’t bulky, which keeps them from causing calluses your toes from the friction IPAs you exercise. They also have some arch support which is helpful if your workout involved running or jumping. They come in a variety of colors and prints, are inexpensive, and easily found in your local Walmart or Target store.

Nike Air Pegasus 30 iD Running Shoe.

The Nike Air Pegasus has been around for 30 years, and this version is especially comfortable, responsive cushioning and light-weight which are all important in a running shoe. But what makes these oh so fab is that they are customizable – you can select from a variety of colors and graphics to design a shoe that reflects your style.

Nike Free TR 4 Training Shoe.

Unlike a running shoe, a training shoe is designed for a variety of activities, especially gym workouts – HIIT, Step Aerobics, Zumba, Kickboxing, etc. The Nike Free TR family of kicks are lightweight, breathable and engineered to support multidirectional movement, which is what sets a training shoe apart from a running shoe. I own a pair of Free trainers and they are my go-to’s for the gym. The Nike Free offers flexibility and traction, and you can design your own shoe to create your perfect fit and personal style. You can even add your name or an inspirational message to the tongue to keep you motivated.

Nike Women’s Leggings and Capris.

Francheska from HeyFranHey.com is always rocking the fanciest Nike gear to workout. She looks so good in it, and even though it is genetically impossible for me to ever look like she does in them, I can still look rather dashing too. Nike has tons of colors and prints from animal to floral to abstract – whatever fits your personal style. They even have harem style capris so you can stay on trend.

Old Navy Active Graphic Tanks and Muscle Tees.

A more budget-friendly option is Old Navy Activewear. I love their graphic tops with fitness themed text like ‘Work Out Warrior’ and ‘Get It Girl’ so you know it’s real. They come Ina variety of styles, prints and colors and are made with moisture-wicking jersey material that helps keep you cooler and drier.

Old Navy Active Compression Capris.

These capris are made with smooth, quick-drying compression fabric, designed for whatever workout you plan to get in to. They feature a small hidden compartment for keys and other small objects, and flat seems to prevent chaffing. Old Navy really came through it’s the colors and prints as well, so you are sure to find a pair or three that will have you looking fit and fab.

Save Your Do Gymwrap.

Created by Nicole Ari Parker, the GymWrap is a headband that minimizes sweat absorption, keeping you cool and you hair dry and in place. Whether you wear your natural hair, relaxed hair, or extensions, you spend time and money to make sure it looks good, and no one wants to have it all messed up by sweat. Hair should never be an excuse not to exercise, so why not take advantage of this so you can save your do?

ProForm Training Gloves.

Snatch up a pair of these inexpensive but effective women’s training gloves. They protect your hands, providing comfort and support during strength training sessions, and they come in a variety of colors so you can be all matchy-matchy if you want to. And yes ladies, you should be doing strength training at least twice a week.

Polar H7 Heart Rate Sensor.

I know this piece really has nothing to do with your look, but it is functional and fabulous. The Polar H7 transmits your real -time, accurate heart rate via Bluetooth to dozens of fitness apps, including Polar Beat. It is also compatible with most gym equipment. This way you have a better idea of how many calories you’re burning during exercise, and you can track your progress via the fitness apps.
