6 Old-School Black Hair Products We Shouldn’t Use Anymore

We all used to use these products. They were staples in our homes for years. It’s time to ditch these old-school hair products — if you’re still using them — and step into the new millennium. Here are 7 classic black hair products we just shouldn’t use anymore.

Blue magic

Magical was it? I wouldn’t go that far, but nowadays there’s way more greases and butters out there that aren’t hair cuticle clogging and will make your scalp feel great.

Barrettes

Barrettes, bobos, whatever you called them, let’s not make this a thing anymore. Hear me out: when we wore them as kids we were done such a disservice with all of those ducks and bears around our head! While it was cute (at times) it took forever to do, and we never matched our clothes. Next!

Mane and Tail

I’m saying, we’re not horses.

Black Gel

Before you attack, yes, black gel definitely works. But who wants to be left with too stiff hair and flakes to go with it?

Pink oil moisturizer

No lie, this was more oily than moisturizing, so just because it was pink doesn’t mean that it was good for the hair.

Baby Don’t Be Bald

Seriously? We’re going to take this name seriously? Don’t worry, because everyone can use it! It’s for ages 2-72, duh! Why is a two-year-old bald and why do they need this product? By now we know that there are other ways to stimulate hair growth, and it begins with a healthy diet, not Baby Don’t Be Bald.

What are some other classic black hair products we should give up?
