I love to read books about feelings and relationships. During our morning meeting, I read "Penguin and Pinecone" and I had full attention. The children were drawn to how Penguin nurtured Pinecone by taking him back to where he belonged. Friendships are new and special to 3 year olds.

When the preschoolers brought their pinecones to class, we placed them on a tray on our science shelf.

We noticed how different each one was, just like we are.

We gathered during our morning meeting and I read the book. We then gathered our pinecones and placed them at the art table.

We applied white paint to our pinecones.

We then shook glitter on them.

And yes, glitter has a way of spreading….

Frosted pinecones.
