Video: Easy Distress Ink Watercolor + GIVEAWAY

Hello! Today’s video shows one of my favorite techniques from back in the day, but one I haven’t done in awhile. This easy Distress Ink watercolor technique never fails and looks even better when you use DIY pearlized water…

When I saw the new Tim Holtz Christmas Blueprints 4 stamps, I knew exactly what technique I needed to use with them. This “easy Distress Ink watercolor” technique is one I used to teach in classes years ago. It honestly never fails. You can use any colors of Distress Ink together… and they will always blend in amazing ways. It is hands-down the easiest way to get a watercolor look.

After white heat embossing the images on watercolor paper, I generously pressed Distress Ink onto the images. Messy. Heavy. Not perfect. I then sprayed the image a ton with pearlized water. The results? A complete mess. But when it dries? Heavenly.

“Pearlized water” is easy to make. I just fill a Mini Mister with water and add a scoop of Perfect Pearls. I use this mix a lot and store it this way. Love. Look at the pearl shine you get…

The Mini Distress Inks are perfect for adding bits of color in small areas. Love those minis! I used inks from the newest ink sets. (More on that below.)

I gold heat embossed the greetings from another great stamp set from Tim – the Styled Woodlands – and added it with foam dots. For the perfect matching mat, I gold embossed cardstock… and then finished the cards off with pearls.

This technique works best with Distress Inks (by far), but you could use plain water if you want. It works great for any outline stamp image… but especially floral images.

NEW MINI DISTRESS INKS

Today, Ranger released the three newest sets of Mini Distress Inks - #10, #11 and #12. I used these colors for the cards above – a great mix!
