ApriliaLove x Uberfine: NEXT
I’m so excited to finally reveal a project that’s been in the works for some time now: my jewellery design collaboration with Uberfine‘s latest collection, Uberfine NEXT.
Together with Uberfine, fellow bloggers Emma, Joelyne, Lauren and I teamed up to create our own design concepts for a new collection, derived from our own personal experiences and inspirations.
We initially all got together for a creative session where we put pencil to paper, translating what was in our imaginations into rough sketches (pictured below).
The inspirations behind my two designs were based off a couple of my own personal experiences and passions.
The lotus pendant has a lot of symbolic meaning to me, representing rebirth. This symbolism is gathered from the fact that the lotus flower is born and grown in muddy water but eventually rises up above the water to stand above it unsoiled. I won’t go into too much personal detail but I went through a stage where in a sense, I felt like I was reborn, which was where the lotus design originated from.
The paper aeroplane pendant was inspired by a couple of things: my love for travel and adventure, as well as feeling like a child at heart. Life’s too short to both, not take yourself too seriously and not see the world; and I have great intentions of doing both!
It’s not that often that I invest in pieces that have some sort of sentimental value, so you can imagine just how surreal it must feel to have been part of this opportunity and design something taken from my own experiences; not to mention seeing them come to life and sharing it with others who may also find their own interpreted meaning in the exact same symbols.
Undoubtedly and most definitely one of those ‘pinch me’ moments in life.
