Up Close and Personal

This might just break all the rules of a typical fashion blog, but you know what? I believe that there are no rules and that you can make them up as you go (this is my own private domain anyway)!

I had an epiphany the other day and part of that realisation was that I no longer want to be a fashion blogger. This blog started as something that I truly enjoyed (and enjoyed for a while), but over the past 6 months or so, it turned into more of a chore than a hobby I looked forward to.

While I still appreciate and enjoy fashion and nice things, I no longer feel the desire to share my outfits, blog post after blog post. However, having said that, I’m not going to do a full 180 on you guys or anything. Instead, I’m going to be broadening the scope of content on my blog to topics like nature, lifestyle and travel, as well as the odd post about personal style. It’s basically going to act like more of a personal online space of mine to share the things that I’m genuinely interested in. Whether you guys like it or not, is up to you.

Now that I’m turning a new leaf, here are some photos I took over the long weekend with my new camera and macro lens. I decided to make the switch from DSLR and go mirror-less this time around, with an Olympus OMD EM-1. So far, it’s been nothing but perfect but, as with anything new, I’m still getting my head around the new features that my DSLR didn’t have and how everything works. All in good time I suppose.

The lens used to shoot the below was an Olympus 60mm f/2.8 macro and boy, was it fun to shoot with! I got to get so up close and personal with these little guys that viewing them through the camera was even clearer than the human eye. I’d never thought I’d say this, but shooting insects might just be one of my new favourite subjects… so if you’re Insect-phobic, apologies but you’ve been warned.
