Deep Fried Twinkie Bites {Dessert Contributor}

Hi there, Dana again from This Silly Girl’s Life ready to tempt you with a super decadent dessert today! When I think of fall I think of colder weather, the falling of leaves and the state fair! One of my favorite aspects of the fair is of course the food. I thought I would make one of my favorite treats a little easier to eat and made deep fried twinkies bite sized! They are sooo cute and easier to handle than a huge fried twinkie on a stick!

I cut up twinkies, dip them in funnel cake batter and fry them to a perfect golden brown! You can either dip them in your favorite sauces like chocolate, caramel or cream cheese frosting or just a light coating of powdered sugar is perfection!

Ingredients

Twinkies (however many you want I used 5 for this post)
3 eggs
1/4 Cup granulated sugar
2 Cup milk
3 2/3 Cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
oil for frying
powdered sugar for topping (optional)

Directions

Place three inches of vegetable oil a heavy bottom skillet with deep sides. Heat over medium heat until hot, around 375 degrees.
Beat the eggs and sugar together until smooth. Carefully beat in the milk. Add the dry ingredients except for the powdered sugar and beat this until smooth with no lumps.

Unwrap twinkies and place on a plate. Put this in the freezer for about 10 minutes or while you are mixing the batter. (This will help to make sure the filling doesn’t leak out when frying) Take twinkies out and cut them into four equal pieces.

You will want to fry these in batches so only put as many twinkie pieces in the batter that you are going to use. Place the other cut up twinkies back into the freezer until they are ready to fry.

Cover the twinkie bites in the batter and CAREFULLY place the twinkies in the hot oil, make sure to flip them every once in a while so they get a golden outside evenly. It takes maybe 3-5 minutes and they are done.

Transfer the twinkies on to a paper towel lined plate so the excess oil will be absorbed.

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or a light coating of powdered sugar, enjoy!

I’m telling you, these little beauties are addicting!!

The twinkie filling just gets all runny and gooey and YUM!

So what do you think? Are you transported back to the fair?! I really hope you enjoyed today’s recipe and you will come and check out my blog This Silly Girl’s Life where I posts lots more fun recipes!! Please check out these others by clicking on the images:
