Decorative Caramel Apples {Home Decor Contributor Post}

Hi Sugar Bee Friends!

It’s Ariean from One Krieger Chick here again! Today, I’m going to share how I created Decorative Caramel Apples…Perfect for your Fall Decor! (or anytime…they are just that cute!)

I always love how magazines and catalogs stage their rooms with food…cute food. But food is not a practical choice for decorations in a house with three curious and always hungry boys. For my upcoming Fall Home Tour, I wanted to decorate with some cute food…What’s cuter for Fall than a Caramel Apple?!

Here’s how I made them using supplies I already had on hand…

You’ll need:

  • Decorative Apples-Mine are small, Styrofoam and look like Granny Smith
  • Caramel colored paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Cake pop sticks or skewers
  • bakers twine or ribbon

I chose to use a darker chocolate brown paint and mix in a pearl white to give the “caramel” a glossy look.

Once the paint was mixed to the color I liked, I simply dipped the apples in the paint.

If some of them looked less than perfect, I used a paintbrush to even out the lines of the paint. Here’s a “less than perfect” dipping…

Allow paint to dry. Then, I cut the cake pop sticks in half. With a larger apple, you could use the entire stick. I removed the existing apple stem and replaced it with the cake pop stick.

Super cute…and pretty realistic too…

But they needed a little something more. If I’m decorating with Cute Food, it better be super-cute!

Bakers twine does the trick with a little bow tied on each stick…

Now I’m off the finish the rest of my Fall decorating…Hope you’ll stop by One Krieger Chick and say Hi! Come by next week and I’ll give you the tour!
