Tuesday Ten: August Style Tips

As excited as I am for fall fashion, I’m not ready to let go of my summer wardrobe just yet. I plan on making the most of August from a fashion perspective by trying out as many quintessential summer styles as I can. So just like I do every month, today I’ve rounded up 10 of my favorite style ideas suited for the month ahead. August here I come…

1. Mirror, mirror…
Mirrored sunnies are one of the biggest accessory trends this summer season. They pair well with casual ensembles of course, or add a playful edge to a more polished outfit.

2. Be sneaky.
An unexpected footwear choice can breathe new life into a summer wardrobe staple. Instead of slipping on the same old sandals or ballet flats, pair a casual summer dress with some cute slip-on sneakers.

3. Jump around.
What’s not to love about an instant outfit? Whether it’s long or short, a tank top or sleeves, a romper is a fun piece to bop around town in. It makes a great swimsuit cover-up too…

4. You know the espa-drill.
Espadrilles aren’t exactly a new trend. (Remember this Currently Craving post I did way back when?) But there’s a good reason this classic footwear style resurfaces every spring and summer. From slip-ons a la Chanel to platforms, espadrilles and August are a match made in heaven.

5. Have a personal white party.
With Labor Day only a month away, there’s no time like the present to wear all the crisp white pieces you have hanging in your closet—white dresses, blouses, and denim included.

6. Meet your match.
If I had to choose my very favorite summer style, this would be it. A matching crop top and skirt (or shorts) set is flirty, feminine, and right on trend.

7. Style your statement shorts.
Take a note from Julia of Gal Meets Glam and wear a pair of statement shorts. In many cases, they can even be taken from day tonight depending on what you wear them with.

8. Muscle up.
Roll up the sleeves on an oversized tee to beat the heat. Paired with a pleated skirt or any other feminine piece, this makeshift muscle tee looks surprisingly chic.

9. Take it to the max.
Never underestimate the power of a lightweight cotton maxi skirt—especially in my very favorite blush hue. This is one of the most versatile and comfortable pieces a girl can have in her summer wardrobe.

10. Accessorize with outerwear.
Even in August, things can get chilly at night depending where you live. Tying a lightweight jacket around your waist for later is one part practical and one part the perfect finishing touch to your summer outfit.

Which of these 10 style ideas will you be wearing?

I hope you found my August picks inspiring!
