DIY Door Shelf

The thing about bathrooms is that they do not always have a ton ofstorage. Unless you are one of those people that happen to have morestorage space than you know what to do with, in which case we can’t befriends, no but really, you are so lucky! In our 100-year-old rental ourbathrooms do not have closets or a lot of cabinets so I came up with a planto add some stylish storage to our master bathroom. The plan you ask?Make an antique door into some lovely shelves. Sounds easy right? Well, let’s add a light to the top of it to spice it up a little.

Supplies:
Antique door ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape for Delicate Surface with Advanced Edge-Lock™ Paint Line Protector (2080EL) wood boards 3M™ Sandblaster™ Pro Advanced Sandpaper galvanized pipes wall sconce paint brush paint Table saw {to cut boards}.

1. To make the door shelves we started with an antique door that we found at our local thrift shop. We first cleaned up the door & taped off the glass to get it ready for repairs & some paint.

2. We used ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape, to tape off the windows & thedoor hardware so that those areas would be safe from paint and allother cleaning debris from the door. After the door had a fresh coat on it & it was all cleaned up we went to add the shelving & the light.

3. After the door had a fresh coat on it & it was all cleaned up we went to add the shelving & the light.

4. The light was a pendant we already had lying around the house & we built the pipe fixture that the light is connected too. To build the DIY industrial pendant holder we used a galvanized pipe, a galvanized base plate, & a 90 degree galvanized elbow. We simply attached the

pipes together & mounted the base plate to the door.

5. We then strung the pendant light through the pipe & through a holein the door in the baseplate & we had a light mounted to the door!6. The shelves are antique boards found at the same thrift shop as thedoor cut to size to fit the door. We mounted them to some simple metal shelf brackets on the door.

7. From here we just leaned our door shelf against the wall in thebathroom, but you could mount it to the wall or add feet for added security.

By adding baskets, towels, & a few accessories, the door fits right into our bathroom. The diy door shelf has added so much storage to our bathroom & I love the character it adds as well! What do you think of our new door shelf? Have you built something like this before? Let me know what you think of it in the comments below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram!

I am proud to be a 3Msponsored blogger, and, as part of myresponsibilities, I get the opportunity to evaluate ScotchBlue™ Painter’sTape. Opinions are my own and additional products used in the projectwere selected by me.I used ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape Delicate Surfaces with Advanced Edge-Lock™ Paint Line Protector and was happy with the results, however the proper tape to use for this surface is ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape Multi-Surface with Advanced Edge-Lock™ Paint Line Protector”.
