Sartorial Lessons From NYFW

New York Fashion Week has come and gone, and it was, for the most part, a tad too commercial to be worth covering on this blog. As far as fashion weeks go, NYFW isn’t the most exciting from a creative standpoint, but the New York collections are a treasure trove of styling tips.

Take, for example, J.Crew’s presentation, where the models wore bucket hats and neckerchiefs to complement their vintage-inspired ensembles. I’m not ready to accept the former — leave them to the hipsters and dads on fishing trips — but I’m now convinced that one can make a neckerchief work on any occasion. One. Two. Three. Case in point, cubed.

Backed by a sudden fashion-induced peak in confidence, I brought out my impulse-bought Topman neckerchief from hiding, for one last attempt at making fetch neckerchiefs happen.

I’d say I’ve done pretty well.
