Honeydew Satin Hands

Mary Kay Satin Hands

It’s not all that often that you get a really good translation of melon into body care – often it just smells so fake and plastic – but this one is so good! The hand set from Mary Kay, which isn’t a brand I venture with often, really does pack a punch and not just in the melon scent stakes. Starting with the scrub, which is the most strongly melon scented, you follow that with the fragrance-free hand softener and then apply the melon hand cream and it really does breathe new life into the skin of dry hands. It’s like a facial for your hands. Bearing in mind that this product has been nowhere near a melon or anything even approaching it, and they’re not very good at explaining on the site what’s in it or what it even does, it’s a lucky find, more than anything. I notice on the Mary Kay site that you are encouraged to ‘speak to a Mary Kay consultant today’ where presumably you can get more information, but it also might end up with someone persuading you to have a visit, which isn’t necessarily what you want when all you were after was a hand cream. It’s possible to buy directly from the site, but then you will do so with less information on ingredients and so forth than if you were able to see it personally. The products from the Honeydew Satin Hands set have all the usual suspects that you’d associate with a non-premium brand – Lauryl Sulfate, petrolatum, alcohol amongst the many, but that said, I loved that melony blast of fragrance and the fact that my hands were better after using it than before.

It’s pricy at £32 for the three products from the Mary Kay site HERE - in fact, I’m in a dilemma about recommending it or not. I think if you love the fruity scent of melon, go for it, but otherwise, it probably isn’t outstanding in its field.
