Raise the Barre: Canadian Red Cross for Typhoon Haiyan Relief

For our final Raise the Barre of 2013, we’re proudly featuring the Canadian Red Cross, supporting 'Typhoon Haiyan” Relief for victims in the Philippines.

The Canadian Red Cross is part of the largest humanitarian network in the world, its mission being to improve the lives of vulnerable people within Canada and abroad. All Red Cross programs are guided by the 7 Fundamental Principles of Humanity; such as universality, independence, voluntary service, and neutrality. For over 100 years, the Canadian Red Cross has established humanitarian aid in times of crisis.

The Canadian Red Cross was already in the country when Typhoon Haiyan devastated on November 8th. This enabled them to respond immediately by evacuating families in Coastal Areas, providing basic services urgently needed and more recently opening a Canadian Red Cross-led field hospital, working with local hospital staff and emergency health providers to ensure that individuals have access to all services including: surgery, medicine, maternal and child care and outpatient services. When this Blog was written, on average 20 babies were being born daily in this emergency field hospital.

100% of Donations are in support!

With 5 Sundays this December there are opportunities to support the relief efforts on: December 01st, December 08th, December 15th, December 22nd and December 29th.

In the spirit of giving this Holiday Season, please help support.
