Cookbook Review — Butter Baked Goods

I’m reviewing one of my newest cookbook purchases — Butter Baked Goods.

Butter Baked Goods — do you have this cookbook yet?

I came across it while browsing on Amazon, I think it was a “you might like this” type deal, which I fall for every time. I have really slowed down on cookbook purchasing in the last couple of years, so that we don’t get poor. Cookbooks aren’t always the cheapest, are they? But every once in a blue moon I’ll order 3 or 4 at once. Getting a big ol’ box of cookbooks is one of my favorite things ever. I prefer it to ordering one at a time, because I can sit and look at all of them for hours.

Butter Baked Goods is particularly easy on the eyes. It’s one of those books that is just adorable and fun to browse, which I LOVE. The bakery that the cookbook named for and written about is in Canada, and the author Rosie is just adorable. She shares her story in the beginning of the cookbook, and her love and passion for baking really shines through. She also has a history as an interior designer, which explains her eye for all things adorable.

The cookbook is pretty average in size — 263 pages if you include the index, but is absolutely chock full of some pretty fabulous recipes. The sections range from breakfast items to bars, buttercreams, cupcakes, pies and a whole section dedicated almost exclusively to her famous marshmallows.

I have baked several recipes from Butter Baked Goods in the last week and have many more pages dog-eared and waiting. Yes, I’m a page folder, but only in cookbooks…I believe they are meant to be worn, so when you pass on and others inherit them, they can easily see which recipes you really loved.

There are some really fun recipes and twists on original stuff. Nothing super complicated, just fun, yummy looking treats.

A really cute feature of this book is the ribbon bookmark that is attached! Just a tiny detail, but paired with the flowered pattern lining, it makes for a gorgeous book. I love attention to little things like that — they make a book seem special.

Aren’t you just dying over the pretty pink color? Love.

If you’re looking for a new cookbook that you’ll love reading AND baking from, definitely give this one a try! No savory stuff, all sweets, so be prepared to break out the sugar, butter and fat pants!

P.S. The No Bake Peanut Butter Marshmallow Bars I shared this week are from this book!

Have a happy Thursday!
