Happy Friday!

We are officially in the homestretch of Summer Vacation. Hooray!

It has been an uneventful Summer — a toddler and an almost 10 year old are an interesting combination to entertain, for sure!

We decided on no vacation just yet…Lucy Goose is at that age that makes traveling incredibly difficult. She’s not a fan of sleeping anywhere besides her own bed, either soooo…bedtime in an unfamiliar place is the worst kind of adventure. This is the second Summer in a row we’ve kept things low key, and I found myself feeling pretty guilty about it, which I wrote about HERE, on Mom.me.

I am preparing to take Jon David to New York in September for his tenth birthday. He has wanted to see New York ever since he was three years old and fell in love with Spiderman. I am SO excited to ring in his first year of double digits in the Big Apple! It’s just me and him going, and Shelly and her boys will be meeting us for a couple of days.

The only thing I’m NOT excited about in regards to the trip is leaving Lucy Goose. She has always been pretty happy with anyone, but lately she has formed a pretty strong attachment to me. When I leave her with her daddy so I can run errands, she constantly looks for me and asks for “momma??”.

I spend a lot of my day holding her and carrying her and loving on that sweet little face — so a four day separation is going to be difficult. I am not good at being away from my kiddos, and that sweet girl has a good hold on my heart.

I am still watching Game of Thrones. No spoilers in case some of you are at the beginning of the series, but I finished the “Red Wedding” episode last night and I’m STILL NOT OVER IT.

WHAT WAS THAT.

I was so upset. It ended and my husband was like, “Okay, time for bed,” and I’m like, “Hello, I am not okay right now, I need time to think!!”.

I don’t know what exactly I needed to think about, I just needed time to recover. Good grief, all the emotions. All day I’ve been so sad. It was so sudden. I wanted to say goodbye! Ugh. Enough.

Also, Bachelor in Paradise. Hello train wreck central, I am loving every minute. Am I the only one hoping that Ashley stays for awhile just to see the drama play out? She has bunny boiler written ALLLL over her, OMG.

This Strawberry Cream Cake is such a great Summer cake! The filling is my all time favorite and most requested cake filling.
