How to Apply Blush

I’m sharing an easy tutorial on How to Apply Blush. If you’ve struggled with applying blush, this post is for you!

Okay, sooooo…blush.

It’s a little confusing, right? I’ve heard so many different rules for applying it and seen SO many wrong ways of applying it.

I put off wearing blush for many years because I just did not want to deal with it. I also didn’t think I needed it, but as I look back at old photos, I definitely did. You can’t wear a full coverage foundation and think you don’t need blush to bring some life back to your face, that’s for darn sure.

Sometimes I forget that so many women have never had anyone to show them how to apply make-up. I always grew up watching my mom, reading about it in books, obsessing over the aisles at the drugstore…I remember hoarding lipstick samples from Avon and Mary Kay like they were treasure. If I could come over and talk about make-up and put it on with some of you, I totally would. But flights are expensive and you tube is free, so we are going this route.

Hope it helps!

These are the blushes I currently have in my make-up case and use regularly:

1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat — this is the blush I use in the video and I love it! It’s a pretty, vibrant color with a bit of sheerness and shimmer to it. It’s pricey but I’ve barely put a dent in it in months so it lasts a long time.

2. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Natural Beauty – a muted strawberry red with amazing pigmentation — a tiny bit goes a LOOONG way. I love this blush because it gives you that pretty rosy flush that you see a lot of the celebrities with on the red carpet. Great with simple eyeshadow and red lips. Just be careful not to go overboard!

3. Benefit Dandelion Blush — a slightly shimmery ballerina pink that is perfect for light make up days!

4. It Cosmetics French Boutique Blush Brush — slightly pricey, but It brushes are my favorite. As long as you take care of them, they’ll last for a very long time! Investing in good brushes wasn’t something I worried about until the last couple of years, but I can tell you that I notice a HUGE difference in not only longevity, but how well the product goes on my face. Good brushes are too expensive for me to buy as a set so I just buy one here and there, replacing my old cheap ones as I go.

I’d love to hear what YOUR favorite blush is! Have a great day :)
