The Road To Radiance: Day One!
Today kicks off a nine day series leading up to Radiant Faces' Opening Day on October 1st! Every day of our Nine Days will include a chance to win one of three free seats in the class, so keep coming back!
Today I want to introduce you to Jane Davenport, our first stop on the Road To Radiance!
What I love about Jane's work is that she is adept at creating faces with a great deal of emotional range. Some of her faces are whimsical, some thoughtful, some wistful, some mischievous, but they all emote through the features she gives them. It's as though her creations have lives off the page. I can imagine them having sock drawers and stories and best friends and adventures.
Jane will be joining us in Radiant to teach a class in the painterly style. She says "I selected the ‘Nymph’ as my theme for Radiant Faces because in our legends they embody transformation. Being neither one thing or another they are restless and curious about the world round them. I went to the Tate to see these paintings because when I think of a ‘Nymph’ these are the images that come to my mind. Ethereal faces fill of yearning for what is to come and what is left behind."
Jane's class will go live along with all the rest on October 1st. I will be stepping up to the plate on October 10th with my interpretation of her class.
There will be a lovely interview with Jane in the classroom, as well, so you won't want to miss it!
