Kellogg’s Breakfasts for Better Days #LostEducation

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is prepare breakfast for myself and my kids. Starting the morning with food in your belly makes all the difference to your mood and energy level throughout the day. Sadly, a lot of families aren’t able to eat breakfast on a daily basis, and many children struggle to function at school on an empty stomach.

Almost half (44%) of Canadian teachers who participated in the Kellogg’s Breakfasts for Better Days Survey saw children coming to school hungry every day. Hunger results in lost education. More than a third of teachers estimated that students lose 1 – 2 hours of learning time a day. That adds up to 3 months a year of lost school time!

To help put an end to hunger in the classroom, Kellogg’s plans to donate 1 billion servings of cereal and snacks (half of them for breakfasts) by the end of 2016. Also, for every box of cereal sold, Kellogg’s will donate 50 cents (up to $50,000) to its breakfast partners to help feed Canadian families in need.

Help spread the word by sharing the infograph at the top of this post on your social media networks with the hashtag #LostEducation.
