Weaving Fever

I've been joking with my friends that I have slowly been getting them addicted to weaving. Oh how true it has become. In December, Grandma Club did WeaveSpa together (and gosh, I havne't written a post about that yet!) When I ask if anyone wanted to join me for their basket weaving workshop, I was pleased as punch when Cinnamon jumped in.

We both made a bread basket and in doing so, learned four different weaving styles as well as learning how to turn work. (Making the curve from base to side walls.) It was so much fun. I have yet to bake dinner rolls to fill-up my basket, but I am glad I will be able to use the basket cloths and bread warming disc given to me by various (real) grannies in my life.

Ah, but it doesn't stop there. When Carolee came to visit us a few weeks ago, her one "must do" request was weaving. So, I set it up and the two of us were weaving table runners side by side. I went in with zero plan, just to use whatever yarns attracted my attention. I really ended-up liking the outcome of this magpie approach. The photo above is of Carolee's work, but I'll get a photo of my runner in situ soon.

I doubt my weaving will end when warmer weather finally arrives, so I'll keep you updated with the things I make on the loom.
