Kinfolk Natural Decor Workshop

2013 was a year of wild, wonderful changes. Our sweet Zoe was born, and has been captivating our lives for nearly 7 months with her exuberance, toothless smiles, slobbery kisses, and the way she says "da-da-da-da." Honestly, life without Zoe is a blur. I'm incredibly thankful that most of my work is done from home and I can stay home with my baby girl!

This year we also bought our first house, and have been busy little bees trying make our house a home; wicker chairs and welcome mat on the front porch, candles in our windows, and found treasures here and there. We have a few big projects for this year: baby's room (she still sleeps in our room), guest room, and garage (we're turning it into a studio and prop storage space!)...can't wait to share more details about these updates to our home.

Another highlight from 2013 was the opportunity to work with Kinfolk in hosting several workshops in the DC/Northern Virginia area. What a blessing it's been. I've made many wonderful friendships, and had the opportunity to collaborate with talented creatives from this area! I also have a slight addiction with planning and styling small gatherings and the workshops were a welcome excuse.

Last month, Sweet Root Village and I hosted the last Kinfolk workshop of 2013. A handful of us gathered at The Loft at 600 F in DC for an afternoon of making natural home decor, sharing a simple lunch, and generally, having a wonderful time. These photos are from the workshop portion of the morning...all captured by Sweet Root Village. My mom's in that first picture - isn't it lovely? My mom and aunt spoiled me and drove down from NJ to help out!

For every workshop I hosted this year, I've been simply amazed at the number of people willing to help out and the businesses willing to partner! I could have never, ever hosted the workshops (especially being a "new" mama) without these helping hands! For December, I worked with these wonderful partners:

Sweet Root Village (they co-hosted, taught a portion of the workshop, took the photos, and were my main ladies for um, everything)
Jennifer Olmstead of Tonic Site Shop (she designed the field guide takeaway...more pics to come)
Gordy's Pickle Jar (they provided lots and lots of pickles to eat at lunchtime. YUM!)
The Loft at 600 F (the most gorgeous location with exposed brick and hardwood floors)
Upcircle Studio (Wally designed and then made fabric bags for everyone to take home. I use mine for Zoe's toys when we're out and about)
Need Supply Co (they sent us copies of their journal for everyone to take home)
Bomisch (Morgan donated forged iron shears for some lucky guests to take home)
Baum-Kuchen (they donated a lovely denim apron for one lucky guest to take home) Erik Landstrom (he drew the sketches for the field guide...simple lovely drawings of evergreens)
Talleys Alley (Talia donated hand-dipped taper candles for each guest to take home) Don Macanlalay (he captured the entire workshop on video. COMING SOON)
Something Vintage Rentals (they lent the benches for the lunch tables and chairs for our work tables) Wollam Gardens (they donated piles and piles and piles of fresh greens for the wreath and garland making)

I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work again with Kinfolk in 2014. Can't wait to announce more details about what's in store this year!
