The Early Bird: Nude Underwear That’s Truly for Every Skin Tone

Call it my inner beauty editor coming out, but whenever I peruse the aisles of my favorite makeup haven on the hunt for new foundation (which happens way more often than my wallet would like), I can’t help but wonder how luxe it would be to have lingerie that’s in the exact same shade as the goop I’m now swatching on my hand. Boy briefs in Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in the shade 120? Come at me, bro.

While that luxury is typically only granted to celebrities and performance artists (why do you think it never looks like Queen Bey is wearing underwear under all those sequins, huh?), a pair of undies in your skin tone should be way cheaper and, subsequently, easier to get. Sure, brands have “nude” options, but that selection usually encompasses a couple of shades, and I think we all know by now that we all come in different shapes, sizes, and shades. Skin tone is as unique as your fingerprint, and finding a set of undies that truly fits your complexion shouldn’t be left to rocket science and divas.

Luckily, someone heard our outcries against a one-shade-fits-all brand of lingerie. Nubian Skin is premiering a line of undies, bras, and hosiery that’s targeted specifically for darker skin tones. There’s a distinct lack of deeper nudes on the market, and the brand aims to remedy that need. Sizes range from 30B to 36E, but will grow to fit a plus-size selection as well.

Even better, each shade in the range is based on a foundation range from popular brands. For example, the darkest shade in the line, Berry, is suggested for women who wear Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint in Beige 90, Bobbi Brown Espesso 10, and M.A.C. NW50. Cinnamon, the medium-dark shade, is better-suited for ladies that prefer M.A.C. NW45, Bobbi Brown Warm Walnut, NARS Macao, and Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint in Beige 80.
