The Early Bird: Alexander Wang x H&M is Here!

In case you’ve been living under a rock these past couple months, consider this your wake-up call: Alexander Wang has partnered up with H&M for the most badass designer collaboration ever. I mean, look at the way it was announced: on Instagram at midnight, at a joint party at Coachella in April. It doesn’t get any more hands-down baller than that.

Ever since that fateful night in April, we’ve been waiting with baited breath for a glimpse of one of the looks. We weren’t disappointed: after a sneak peek here and there from Rihanna and several other It girls, the collection finally made its runway debut a few weeks ago. It was everything we hoped it would be, and more: shades of grey and black, all on pieces that blurred the line between sportswear and casual. There was also the prevailing sense that each piece was undeniably sexy and in a way that sportswear hasn’t really been before. There’s plenty of spandex and straps to go around, and each piece is meant to be worn either with other pieces in the collection for a head-to-do athletic look, or dressed up with more formal pieces for a night out. Personally, I feel like those WANG-emblazoned scuba pieces beg to be worn with leather.

There’s also plenty of winter-ready separates. From puffy jackets cinched at the waist (they’re windproof, guys) to biker jackets, this collection got the breezy New York winter covered. To match the aesthetic for the collection, there’s also plenty of pieces meant for, well, the gym: water bottles, whistle rings, yoga mats, and even a set of boxing gloves. There’s also the trademark nicknack that Alexander Wang is so beloved for, namely decorative cups, swim googles, and even a key chain with those boxing gloves.
