The Wednesday Showcase

Happy Wednesday Everyone! What a glorious day it is here in Chicago, bright sunshine, temps in the low 60's, perfection!!! Spring has finally sprung :) One can't help but be happy on such a beautiful day!
If you had a chance to listen to the web talk radio program, then you heard me talk about doing the Wednesday Showcase posts. They are truly a delight for me. I know how difficult it can be to open yourself up and let, really the entire world into your life. And I also know how difficult it can be to take pictures of what you are doing and set aside the time to write a post. I am grateful that so many of you do, as I believe that each and everyone of you are making a difference. You are bringing back this wonderful craft and because of you, young women are discovering it as not only a vehicle for self expression, but a way to connect.
Up first today is another fellow Texan. Although I no longer live in Texas, I think I'll always be one at heart:) Her blog is called, Remembering Oz and you can find it here, http://rememberingoz.blogspot.com/ The blog is about her journey of fashion and sewing done her way. The title has nothing to do with the movie, but is a tribute to her father who earned the nickname of Oz while he served in the air force. She is brand new to the blogging world, her first post was done just last October. She's off to a much better start than I was when I first started my blog!!
Here's a skirt that she made. The fabric is wonderful and I love it paired with a t-shirt and jean jacket.

A lovely jacket made from McCalls 6844. What a beautiful setting. She is participating in the Make a Garment a Month Challenge which you can find here, http://makeagarmentamonthchallenge.blogspot.com/
During Christmas, she made scarves for her daughters. She said that she could have done a better job, but hey, when the client smiles and asks for more....job well done!!
I think you'll enjoy getting to know this almost brand new blogger!

Another brand new blogger to welcome to the blogging world is Fooniks of http://needleforthoughts.blogspot.com/. She just joined us this last February! Here's a little about her, "I'm a fresh out of school tailor who wants to learn and share my journey with others." Now how often do hear someone say that they are a "fresh out of school tailor?" There's still hope!!!!
Her first project for spring was this lovely self-drafted dress and matching jacket made out of a piece of vintage polyester fabric. Very pretty.
This beautiful gown was drafted and made for her sister-in-law who had a formal gala to attend. Belle of the ball!!!
What do you do when you are commissioned to make a pair of red jeans for a growing boy? Make them extra long of course!! Check out the socks! This is a young man with a true sense of style.
Fooniks has joined the upcoming Me Made May 2014 challenge so there will be a lot more coming from her in the near future. If you think that you might like to take the Me Made May challenge, you can read about it here, http://sozowhatdoyouknow.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/me-made-may14-sign-up-here.html. I took the challenge last year. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about my wardrobe, what I need more of and what I need less of. I actually did some cleaning out once the month was over, so I highly recommend taking the challenge.

Another Wednesday Showcase comes to an end. It's exciting to see new bloggers dipping their toes into the blogging world and sharing a bit of themselves with all of us.
Have a wonderful day and I hope you find a little time to sew a stitch or maybe two.
