The holidays are the perfect time to try products you've been eyeing throughout the year. Smashbox Always Sharp Liners have been on my list ever since they came out, but at $20 a piece were a little more of a splurge. The limited edition On The Rocks Always Sharp Liner Set from their holiday collection includes 5 of the liners for just $39 - a $100 value! I knew this was the time to try.

The following shades are included in the set:
Raven: A deep matte black
Sumatra: A deep matte chocolate brown
Midnight: Deep matte navy blue
3D Orchid (exclusive): Deep purple with orchid shimmer
3D Night Gem (exclusive): Medium grey base with silver shimmer

There are two limited edition shades in this set - both of which are my favorite of the entire shade selection.

Smashbox Always Sharp Liners are so-called because the tip automatically sharpens each time the cap is closed. This makes it easy to line the inner corner of the eye, and create an easy cat eye with a kohl liner. Additionally, I was shocked at how soft and creamy the liner is given that the pencil is automatic. These provide a little bit of time to work with and smudge out, but stay put once they dry down. After 12 hours of wear, these didn't budge on my upper lash line. I didn't notice the same lasting power on my waterline, but very few liners can pass that test for me. My waterlines are a special case, so I don't hold that against them.

Overall, these liners are fantastic - specifically for those that like kohl liner, but hate that they never maintain a sharp point. I definitely recommend them, and this set is a great way to try multiple shades to see what best suits you. See more pictures after the jump!
