Review and Giveaway: Learn, Laugh and Play with the Schoolies!

Today I’m really excited to share a short review and fantastic giveaway of a set of books my kiddos are both raving about. Here’s a little bit about the new Schoolies series just to give you an intro into what they are all about:

Preschoolers will love to meet the colorful and unique cast of Schoolies characters, created by artist and designer Ellen Crimi-Trent and published in Priddy Books’ signature early learning formats.

My School Day – From waking up to favorite lessons to the bus ride home, kids will love learning to tell time as they spend a day with the Schoolies. Includes a play clock with moveable hands so young readers can turn to the right time as the Schoolies enjoy their day.

School House – Fold-out pages create four scenes in and around the Schoolies school house. Includes press-out play characters and accessories, plus sticker sheets.

Let’s Get Ready For School – Early learning book with wipe-clean pages so that all of the activities can be repeated, reinforcing learning.

Making Friends and My First Day of School Storybooks – Two reassuring and positive stories about overcoming shyness and being nervous to start school. Books include two sheets of fun Schoolies stickers.

Activity Flashcards – The Schoolies introduce multiple key first concepts (numbers, letters, colors, shapes) in this set of 26 wipe-clean, double-sided flashcards.

For ages 3 and up.

This series of books was exactly what the doctor ordered for this long summer break. Turkeybird is typically a “teacher” type kid and nearly every day during the school year would come home to “teach” Littlebug everything he’d learned that day. She’s going to be the most prepared kindergartner ever. And now with school out he’s not only bored off his rocker, but also in need of something to help keep him in that “teaching” mode he loves so much. The Schoolies books have helped quite a bit with that.

With activity cards, a make-shift school house that opens up with characters you can pretend to play school with as well as a number of other books, stickers and teaching tools both kiddos have been busy teaching and learning. Not only that, but the characters created by Ellen Crimi-Trent are adorable! Littlebug instantly latched onto Lydia the Ladybug and Spencer the Owl was Turkeybird’s favorite. There are basic math, writing and reading skills to be learned from the books, though nothing so difficult that young kiddos would feel frustrated with. They did need help setting up the school house portions and with reading the directions on how everything worked together, but for the most part this set was just what they both needed to keep academically busy for a bit of time each day and a lot of fun as well.

The1stdaughter Recommends: Ages 3 to 7. The perfect way to “play” school, especially during these summer break months.
