Giveaway: A Monster Calls (Non-Illustrated Ed.) by Patrick Ness

As many of you know, one of my favorite authors happens to be Patrick Ness. His YA Chaos Walking series connected me with an all-time favorite audiobook narrator, Nick Podehl. And last year I reviewed his middle grade novel, A Monster Calls, almost a full year after having read it because it was so moving. Now Patrick has a couple of new books coming out this year, More Than This and The Crane Wife, and both have made my must-reads list.

Today though, I’m excited to share something brand new from Patrick Ness, the paperback non-illustrated edition of A Monster Calls. I know, many of you have stopped in your tracks because who would want to read this materpiece without the incredible illustrations by Jim Kay? I have to say that was my initial reaction as well because I felt so strongly that they brought the text to life. Now, not to discount anything at all about Kay’s illustrations, but I was pleasantly surprised when I received my copy of this new edition of A Monster Calls. All of the power, emotion and heart is still there and in many ways it allowed my own imagination to create a vision of Conor for myself.

This new edition of A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness will no doubt appeal to long time fans and may even appeal to new readers who prefer their books without illustrations. Either way, I’d recommend this to anyone who loves incredible writing.
