Updated Post: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Saga, Suspense and Fiction

Instead of sneaking in the lip pictures of Saga, Suspense and Fiction, I thought I'd simply write a whole new post with my thoughts on the three colors. Part of the Avant-Première collection, the three display the new, pigment-rich formula of the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine.

After further use, I can't say I'm a fan. You see, I love the original Rouge Coco Shines. The sheer formula of the lipstick allows me to pick colors that seem bold and bright in the tube, and wear them easily. I picked one really bold shade, Fiction, and I find that I can't wear it unless I leave it simply as a stain on the lips (blot twice after careful application and it looks more natural). I'll show you what it looks like in its full glory but honestly, it's not something I would wear this way.

I also picked a bright fuschia berry shade, Suspense. Inasmuch as I've been loving brights lately, this one felt a bit... much. Piled on like I did in the photo below, it looks good and it's certainly appropriate for some occasions. But as an everyday lip, I think I preferred Saga, as Suspense was too bright for me.

What makes the new formula work with Saga is that with the really light shades, the original Rouge Coco Shine formula rendered the colors so mute that you might as well be wearing lip balm. Now I can see that the lipstick is true to the color in the tube and that pleases me. This is what I'd hoped Evasion would look like and now I have it.

If you had a real problem with the Rouge Coco Shine colors not showing up well on you, then you may like the Avant-Première collection. If you loved the old Rouge Coco Shines, know that what you're getting is a little bit different.
