Dr. Oz's Two-Week Rapid Weight Loss Plan

A few weeks ago on instagram, I mentioned that I was joining a 30 day accountability group with The Four Fit Sisters. They are a group of sisters that are each working moms (Maggie is a working mom-to-be!) who are also fitness coaches. I have been following them on instagram for a few months, so when Haley asked me to join her group, I kind of felt like the cool kids just asked me to eat lunch with them.
The fitness group is going great. Basically, it's a small, private facebook group with other women. Haley gives great tips everyday and the women in the group support each other. It's great for accountability and motivation. I've lost 4 pounds since joining 3 weeks ago. And admittedly, if it wasn't for Christmas travelling and being snowed in (aka eat err'thing in the pantry), I would have lost more.
coulda, woulda, shoulda = my life mantra
Back to my story. Anyway, so Sunday I am snowed in and on my third bowl of Lucky Charms. I check my facebook and see where Haley had posted some information about Dr. Oz's take on wheat and how it affects your body. I was like, eye roll, Lucky Charms love me.
Monday, my third day of being stuck inside, I am laying on the couch, popping Chez-Its when Dr. Oz comes on TV. The episode is Dr. Oz's Two-Week Rapid Weight Loss Plan. The first segment in the show is about cutting out wheat, how our body becomes addicted to it, and what our brains look like with a high dependence of wheat.
I felt like a chain smoker looking at a picture of my lungs.
I don't have a wheat allergy or any poop-related side effects when it comes to consuming wheat. But I did have other side effects he listed like craving for more processed foods, bloated-ness (not a real word), tiredness, etc. When I am at my heavy weight, I feel cranky, fatigued, bitchy, and hungry. I don't want to keep feeling this way. And dieting the way that I normally diet, has just created this yo-yo- effect for me.
I was hooked. I made Chris record the episode because recording a show on TV is out of my technology realm. And I wanted him to be put under the Dr. Oz spell so that he didn't flip his shit when I when spent our mortgage payment at the grocery store buying everything on this list.

So basically no wheat, processed foods, soda, booze, and sweets. Otherwise known as Big Holly's Life Essentials. I did like how he provided a grocery list and broke it out into sections that even a rodent would understand.
Last night I hit up the grocery store. I went to a higher-end store because I didn't know how difficult it would be to find unsweetened almond milk, rice protein powder, and ground flaxseed.
I ended up buying the low sodium, organic, carton of vegetable broth, so that I wouldn't have to buy a shit load of veggies, boil them, then drink the chemical soaked juice and worry about dying of cancer in my sleep. Plus the container was only $2.99, which made it way cheaper too.

Here is a picture of all of my goods. All together for the entire grocery list, I spent $71. This includes the container of vegetable broth, green tea, the recipe for the smoothie (see below), bag of frozen chicken breasts (from Aldi), greek yogurt, hummus, brown rice, and lots of veggies.

To save money, I bought a large container of the plain greek yogurt, instead of 2 weeks worth of little cups. I also bought the flaxseed out of one of those wall dispensers in the hippie aisle because I could buy just what I needed (less than two cups) without buying a whole bag off the shelf.
Tips: The unsweetened almond milk is in the fridge by the regular milk. This took me 40 minutes to figure out. Miller Lt is frying my brain. Also, the rice protein powder was in the vitamin aisle, kind of buy the Slim Fast shakes. This was more expensive than the chicken ($14 for the little bag), but I am hoping to keep up the smoothies longer than two weeks. This is what Big Holly is telling Poor Holly.
I am starting tomorrow... and rapid, detox of bloated fat ends on the 23rd. I will post my results on Friday, the 24th, along with what I learned, what worked, and what didn't work. If you're interested in his weight loss program too, you can check out the slide show HERE or the TV episode HERE.
In the meantime, I hope y'all check out The Four Fit Sisters. They are really, really good looking and pretty smart. Haley posted just what I needed to read and I hope it makes 6 inches of difference in my waist.
In case you haven't heard of them, let me break it down. Four Sisters, real sisters, all from the St. Louis area, all played collegiate softball, two even played pro, and one was on the USA national team. Hot moms, fun, and health fanatics. That pretty much sums it up.
Since they all share a blog, but have their own social media, I thought I would break them out for you.

Marta Facebook / Instagram: The oldest sister, but I can't tell. ;) But I can definitely tell that she has first child syndrome, like me, because you can just tell that she is a leader and oh-wise-one. I love Marta's instagram because she is so positive and fun. Her and her husband have three girls between 5 and 9 years old. She posts lots of motivational messages, fitness tips, and everything in between.

Adie Facebook / Instagram: She is Haley's twin! They both played professional softball after college. She is a kindergarten teacher with two young boys. One of them has Celiac disease and she sometimes posts information related to that and how their family has embraced that lifestyle change. She has had a great fitness transformation and just seems very relateable... and so nice!
Haley Facebook / Instagram: I am just calling it now... but I think Haley is the wild one. Haley is Adie's twin and also a previous professional softball player. She is a PE teacher, mom of two, and small business owner. I want her abs, her master bathroom, and just the whole house while I am at it. Haley is very toned, motivational, and just all around fun. I think any busy mom would relate to her a lot.
Maggie Facebook / Instagram: She is only 25 and is a PE teacher like Haley. Maggie played softball for the University of Michigan before joining the USA national team. She is expecting her first baby in March (a boy!). She was also recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and posts information about autoimmune diseases. Maggie is a great example of a glowing, fit pregnancy!
Please contact them if you want more information about one of their 30 day challenges. They have great 30 day transformation pictures HERE!
