Spring Trend: Eye Bright

Bold, provocative color is a must-have for spring. From lips to cheeks to eyes, vibrant hues are taking center stage (although, steer clear of wearing a bright eye, lip and cheek all together). Put away your neutral palettes and choose your favorite color from the rainbow. Whether you decide to focus on a bold lip, a prominent cheek or a colorful eyelid is up to you. If color isn’t your thing, stay on-trend by using a stain, a gloss, or, for eyes, a light wash of your specified shade.

While we’ll get into vibrant pigments of lips and cheeks, today is all about eyes. Should you choose to make your eyes the focal point, make sure to keep the rest of the face fairly bare. A bit of blush is always necessary, but lips can be left light and glossy and skin should be flawless. I prefer my strong, colorful eye with a full brow and dark, inky mascara. Spring colors of choice are light, bright and fun!

Here are a few great eye products to get your spring look started:

NARS Bouthan Duo Eyeshadow ($34) – An unexpected pop of pink that offers up the perfect spring eye. This duo contains a matte pale rose and a shimmery violet. Wear the pale rose alone for a wash of pink or pair them together for a more drastic, yet still understated, colorful lid.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($24) – I love the entire range of caviar sticks, from forrest green to plum. They have a creamy consistency so application is quite easy. Create a colorful lid by applying the stick in your crease and gently rubbing in. You can also use it as a thick eyeliner for top or bottom lash line.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Star Powder in Fuchsia, Red and Purple ($20) – While the entire color spectrum of star powders will have you reminiscing of childhood crayons, I’m into pink, purple and red for spring. Why? Because they add some serious color to the face and in the most unexpected of places for such vibrant hues: the eyes. This stuff is seriously pigmented and not for the faint of hue.

Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencil in Deep End or Chaos – Shades of blue focused on the waterline is a huge spring trend. Whether you choose a teal blue hue, as seen at Marc Jacobs, or something a bit more subtle like royal blue (more subtle than electric, that’s for sure!), blue looks good on everyone, regardless of skin or eye color. Blue actually brings out the whites in your eyes, making them look wider and brighter.

Dolce & Gabbana Glam Liner Intense Liquid Eyeliner ($34) – The pen-like tip helps to achieve a precise line, great if you’re going for a cat eye. Add liner to your top lashe line and pair with a colorful lid for a twist of glam.
