I wrote off this show pretty quickly. I mean, come on… an impregnated virgin? Where is this gonna go? As it turns out.. it’s going somewhere interesting!

Jane The Virgin is so damn charming. Jane - Gina Rodriguez - is the perfect mix of cute and sexy. She’s so unlike the other CW actresses, not because she’s of color, but because of her whole aura. It just stands apart in a really really good way. The supporting characters are helluva good too, I adore them! Especially Rogelio! He is hilarious!!

And the whole impregnated virgin story angle is just a teeeny part of the story. It’s about love, family, mysteries, fantasies vs realities, parenting, mistakes and autocorrects… Jane getting pregnant is just texture.

I’ve seen critics talk about how Jane The Virgin and how it reminds them of Pushing Daisies. I totally see that. It’s got the same sense of charm, humor, romance and not taking itself seriously. It might even be a tad better than Daisies because of the telenovela treatment, which I think makes it more accessible.

This show easily ranks in my top 3 freshman favorites.. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually ranks in my top 5 favorite shows, I just haven’t checked how my list looks like in a while haha! I’m so happy I checked out the pilot.
